Suburban phoenix

As I look at the ashes of my old house,
it occurs to me that it’s all over.
I’ve lost my dog, my belongings and worst of all, my beautiful Range Rover.

The fire stole my story. The recession stole my job.
I’m a man without possessions, but I’m not going to turn into a slob.

I’ve cried gallons of salty water.
I’ve spent decades in the empty dark.
Gimme a trunk full of matches ’cause I’m going to make a spark.

I am in charge of the rest of the journey and I’m not afraid of the fire.
It might be a force to be reckoned with, but so is my desire.

Desire to live, desire to fight, desire to extinguish the heat.
Keep it cool, keep it chill, keep it passionate, when you’re dancing to the rhythm of life’s beat.
